School of Geosciences

 

Founded in 1900 by Charles Gould, the School of Geosciences has been a leader in geosciences research and education for over a century.  The School has been a global leader in education and research in topics related to hydrocarbon exploration and exploitation, but now includes research programs spanning aspects of organic, inorganic and environmental geochemistry, and hydrochemistry, planetary geology, structure and geophysics of earthquakes and induced seismicity, near-field and crustal-scale geophysics, paleoecology and paleoclimate, paleomagnetism, and mineralogy/petrology.

Nine Sooners Receive NSF Graduate Research Fellowships

Five current students at the University of Oklahoma, four from the Gallogly College of Engineering and one from the Mewbourne College of Earth and Energy, as well as four OU alumni, have been named 2024 National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellows.

The University of Oklahoma has set a record for fundraising in a single day, raising $26,648,681 during Giving Day 2024. OU received nearly 7,100 gifts including support from all 50 states and 16 countries across the globe.

The University of Oklahoma is offering a new certificate program beginning in the fall 2024. The Sustainable Energy Systems Certificate program, offered through Mewbourne College of Earth and Energy, will provide OU students of all majors the opportunity for an interdisciplinary energy education.

OU-Led Study Receives Best Paper Award From Unconventional Resources Conference

A study led by University of Oklahoma researchers has been selected for a 2023 best paper award in the Advanced Formation Evaluation technical program theme from the Unconventional Resources Technology Conference.
